The AARTS combines a Soldier's military education, training and experience with descriptions and credit recommendations developed by the American Council on Education (ACE).

More than 2,300 colleges and universities recognize ACE endorsed transcripts as official documentation of military experience and accurate records of applicable ACE credit recommendations. The ACE Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services is the standard reference for recognizing learning acquired during military service.
